India vs New Zealand 3rd Test Start at Indore

Successive sixes
Gambhir is making a statement now. Dispatches Matt Henry for successive sixes off short balls. The first one was hit over the deep square leg boundary, while the other was hit over the fine leg one.
Vijay is away:
Vijay off to a positive start now, already two boundaries in that Boult over. New Zealand brings in a sweeper cover now.
Gambhir off the mark:
Gautam Gambhir makes his return to Test cricket in style, confidently punching a short and wide delivery from Matt Henry to the point boundary. First runs for him.
More drama:
There was a problem first with the ball... now with the sight screen. Due to the rain last night, it seems to have been stuck in the mud.

Here we go:
Trent Boult to start off proceedings on Day 1. Bowling to Vijay.
Guess what, the seam splits at the seam with one ball bowled! There is a change in the ball after ONE ball. Second new ball being used now.
Gambhir opens with Vijay:

Murali Vijay's scores with Gautam Gambhir in the playing XI:
30, 4 & 32, 7, 0 & 18, 18 & 2

Gautam Gambhir's scores with M Vijay in the XI:
68, 12 & 1, 25, 4 & 18, 0 & 3
Minutes away from the start now...but first, national anthems.
Stat alert!:
Kohli has now won seven tosses in as many home Tests.

Squads:

New Zealand: Tom Latham, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson(c), Ross Taylor, Luke Ronchi, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, BJ Watling(w), Jeetan Patel, Matt Henry, Trent Boult

India: Murali Vijay, Gautam Gambhir, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav
Toss:
Virat Kohli wins another toss and India will bat in Indore. The wicket looks like a good one, says Kohli backing his decision.

India makes two changes due to injuries: Shikhar Dhawan makes way for Gautam Gambhir, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar is replaced by Umesh Yadav.

It is also interesting to know that since Kohli has taken over captaincy, he has never fielded the same XI in the last 17 Tests; there has at least been one chance, even if it was injury-forced.

New Zealand, on the other hand, also have two changes with Jimmy Neesham in for Neil Wagner and Williamson returns, which means Henry Nicholls has to make way
